Resident Beach Parking Permits
About the Beach Parking Permit
You must be a Hilton Head Island resident to obtain a parking permit. The required documentation is listed in the section below.
The cost of a resident parking permit is $15 per year, per vehicle.
The beach parking permit is valid from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024 at designated Town beach parking lots and spaces.
There are 126 Resident Beach Parking Permit spaces at Islander's Beach Park and 27 Resident Beach Parking Permit spaces at Driessen Beach Park.
Vehicles with a valid permit are not required to pay for metered parking at any of the Town's public beach access parking lots.
Beach parking permits are limited to two vehicles per address.
Obtaining a permit for a golf cart is not in addition to the two vehicles per address.
To purchase a beach parking permit, the applicant must provide documented evidence of at least one of the following:
Residential property owner's tax bill or closing documents within Hilton Head Island Town limits
(This shall include 4 percent, 6 percent, and partial-deed or time-share ownership of greater or equal to 183 days. However, a timeshare with less than 183 days of annual occupancy and properties that are utilized as short-term rentals are NOT eligible to receive a beach parking permit.)
A current Residential Rental/Lease agreement within the Hilton Head Island Town limits with a term greater than or equal to 183 days.
Vehicle Registration
A valid SC DMV golf cart registration must be provided to obtain a beach parking permit for a golf cart.
